Kaiseki Dining Table
Product Details
The Kaiseki cat dining table uses oak veneer over molded plywood, finished with urethane for water and stain resistance. Karimoku builds it in Aichi Prefecture, where the company has manufactured furniture since 1940.
The 15-degree angle was developed with veterinary input. This incline reduces strain on the neck and spine during feeding, particularly relevant for older cats or those prone to regurgitation. The table weighs 1.5kg, heavy enough that most cats cannot push it across the floor.
The porcelain bowls come from Secca, a design collective based in Kanazawa. The shape resembles a cat's eye when viewed from above. Each bowl is glazed by hand, which means slight variations between pieces. The food bowl curves inward to keep kibble from scattering and to prevent whisker contact with the rim. The water bowl holds 280ml and sits deep enough to minimize splashing.
All edges are rounded. No sharp corners anywhere on the piece. The bowls are dishwasher and microwave safe, and Karimoku sells replacements separately.
The walnut finish uses wood from the same family as teak and mahogany. Oak versions come in natural and sheer white. The table ships fully assembled.
One practical note: the dual-bowl configuration works best for single-cat households. Multi-cat homes may need more than one unit. Bowls can be purchased separately.
