Gratta Lounge Scratcher

The Gratta Lounge Scratcher uses a lacquered wood frame that curves gently along its 60cm length, creating a shallow depression at the center. Studio Nooi, the German design collective behind the piece, shaped it to follow the natural arc of a stretching cat. The concave form does double duty: a scratching surface when approached from the ends, a resting spot when occupied from above.
The scratching surface itself is recyclable cardboard, replaceable when worn. MiaCara sells the inserts separately, which extends the frame's useful life considerably. This is furniture designed to age, not to be discarded.
Construction is freestanding. No wall mounting, no hardware, no commitment to a single room. The lacquered finish wipes clean with a damp cloth. Three colorways suit different interiors: white, greige, and graphite.
One honest note: at 10cm tall, the Gratta sits low. Cats who prefer vertical scratching may find it less intuitive than those inclined toward horizontal stretching. But for cats who sprawl and scratch in equal measure, it accommodates both impulses in a single form.
MiaCara manufactures primarily in Germany and sources European materials. The company has been producing pet furniture since 2011, longer than most competitors in this category have existed.
