Cesto Heritage Basket

The Cesto Heritage Basket is moulded from formfleece made almost entirely of recycled PET bottles. Danish design studio Hans Thyge & Co created the shape: a simple circular form with walls high enough to create enclosure without confinement. MiaCara manufactures each piece in Germany.
The material holds its structure without a frame. Felt fibres compress during the moulding process to create rigidity, yet the surface remains soft against fur and skin. The texture reads as wool but performs like synthetic: it won't absorb odors or shed fibers the way natural felt does.
Cats tend to claim it immediately. The curved walls offer the sense of security that draws them to boxes and corners. When empty, the basket functions as storage for toys, throws, or magazines. It looks deliberate either way.
Four colors are available, all muted enough to recede into a room rather than announce themselves. Nougat and Concrete suit warmer interiors. Black and Grolive work in cooler spaces.
One consideration: the felt cannot be machine washed. Spot cleaning with a damp cloth is the limit. For households with cats prone to illness or accidents, this may matter.
The basket arrives ready to use. No assembly, no cushion required, though MiaCara's Lana faux fur insert fits the interior exactly.
